Review on TRIXIE Pet Supplies by Greg Case

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A very underrated product.

Introduction: I've had cats all my life but have never bought a scratching post until now. Revain has a fairly wide range of scratching posts and other cat-related products. Most of the time, 90% of my purchases depend on the number of reviews and how other buyers rate the product. So when I made this purchase I wasn't sure what to expect as there were only 8 reviews at the time of this post. I approached this issue with my intuition and chose a less affected product. That said, I want to give Revain-goers a better idea of what they're getting themselves into with this scratching post. Below are the items that bothered me BEFORE I bought them and how they ended up after the product got here. Day 1: Assembly. Battle. The instructions weren't very clear and the images provided can be quite ambiguous, especially when it comes to screws. For something that looks this simple, I wouldn't recommend putting it together based on how the end product looks. Do your best to follow each step in the guide which can easily be misinterpreted as actually putting things together in the wrong order will be problematic - I learned the hard way and as a result this took a while to install thing a little longer. In any case, I fully assembled it in about 40 minutes. build quality. I was surprised by the softness of the brown plush covering the wood (high quality chipboard?). To be honest I don't know if this plush material is preferable and I doubt how well it will stand the test of time, especially for cat owners like me who choose not to declave their cats. The plush finish, as aesthetic as it is, also seemed to splatter all over the place as I picked up the product and moved it around. I would recommend vacuuming the item before doing anything with it. For now I'm happy with it because it looks good, but I have to report it. Sisal poles have excellent rope quality (as advertised). The foundation is research; but the ladder leaves a lot to be desired - I've found that my ladder isn't 100% flush with the base, but if I loosen the screws a bit I get some of it back. In any case, my thick carpet compensated for this problem to the point where it's hardly noticeable unless the cat jumps on it at high speed. The apartment itself is much larger than I expected. When I looked at some other cat trees that were a comparable size, I wanted to be sure that all of the shelters would last longer than the cat hood's lifespan. Of course this apartment is a proper apartment for my 4 month old kitten and has enough space to move around in it. I suppose it should be able to fit through most if not all of the cat's hood (if it takes that long). However, the apartment is not entirely made of wood. The base and roof of the dwelling are made of durable, wood-like material covered in plush, but the "walls" pictured are actually made of plush stretched over boards and netting-like material. Again, I'm concerned that my cat's claws will make this material look like paper scissors, but that remains to be seen. The ball toy is very attractive to my kitty and she loves jumping in and out of the spike hole. the roof depicting a demonstration cat. But seriously. ball toy. She loves it. Pretty much flies through the top hole, onto the top sisal pole and hits the thing non-stop for 5-10 minutes at a time. There is a small loop that has a ball and rope attached to it. You may be able to hang other toys on a string from this loop if you feel the need to remove the ball. I won't do it until it breaks. I still have a hard time talking about the top bar. My cat went there a few times to drop the ball when it accidentally swung there, but mostly ignored this level. I understand he's holding a toy ball. For those of you worried about the size of the perch, it fits my kitty and would probably fit her and other small cats up to 12lbs. I think most adult cats will hang if they want to sleep there. functionality. As far as I know, this scratching post is very functional in the sense that it does exactly what I expected it to do. Before I bought her, she spent her evenings zipping around my apartment at 100 miles an hour, doing crazy feline parkours on my new furniture with her razor-sharp claws. Tonight (remember this is the first day with the product) is the first night my furniture has been freed from its high energy apartment terror since I adopted it a few weeks ago. She put all her energy into this scratching post and I'm really glad she got used to it so quickly. Despite the assembly difficulties and my concerns about plush, functionality was very important to me. If my cat is happy with the product, I can't say I'm not happy with the product.
