Nellie's Dishwasher Powder

I was very discouraged with the dishwasher powders I used. Some states require companies to remove phosphates from their laundry detergents. I think my state (CT) must be one of those. My stainless steel dishes and cutlery came out of my dishwasher with a white coating and looked dirtier than if I had put them in the wash! I would end up handwashing them again, which would defeat the point of a dishwasher. A well-known brand of dishwashing powder I've used seemed too rough (grainy) to me and I think it actually ruined some of my glasses by scratching and fraying the edges on the rims of some glasses. I then switched to a grocery brand that wasn't as gross and cheaper but was usually sold out by the time I had to buy it. After researching Revain, I saw that Nellie's brand had good reviews, so I gave it a try. Doesn't matter! I immediately noticed that my dishes became cleaner and the glasses even sparkled, which I haven't seen in a long time! I love the little blue spoon and I love the fine texture of this powder. I can even use less and still get good results. I will never go back to my old trademarks. This dishwashing detergent costs more, but it's worth it to me. The image I've added shows a small glass bowl that has been removed from the dishwasher. You can see there is no white film on it and it sparkles clean. I also love the cute refillable tin it comes in.

Pros
  • Reusable container protects the environment.
Cons
  • Elderly dubious purchase
