Too childish for 8+

I ordered this set for my 8 year old son. He really likes it but I doubt he will wear it to school. It will be something he will only wear more comfortably with his family as it looks a bit childish in person. Also, the size says 6-9 and the hat was a bit tight for my average 8 year old. She fitted her head tightly and poorly covered her ears. The gloves fit him well, though they don't provide as much warmth as a hat.
