Review on πŸ–₯️ Optimized for SEO: Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Folio designed for 10.1-Inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 by Jackie Smith

The keyboard works great, not as good as the case

I tried one of the cheaper cases/keyboards and returned it for a number of reasons. I kept this one, but only a little bit. Pros: The case is very well made and looks like it will last a long time. The keyboard works great and the dedicated Android keys are a big plus. An app that you can install at will also works very well. The keyboard is well thought out, the keys give a good feedback when typing. The connectivity was fast and the battery life seems more than acceptable to me. Cons: This thing will definitely double the weight of your device. You don't understand the difference until you put them together. They go from 1 to 2 pounds. It's not Logitech's fault, but the Galaxy Tab 3 has a charging port on the bottom, but it should pop out the side. Adding this Samsung design flaw to this cover means you can't charge and use the device at the same time when it's on the stand. This is absolutely ridiculous! Ugly: You can't charge your device with the lid closed (the tablet is protected) because Logitech didn't put a hole in the lid. This unforgivable design flaw can be eliminated with a steady hand and an X-Acto knife. I made a square hole in the lid to accommodate the charger. It takes a lot of effort, but I did it perfectly. With some charging cables, the plastic that the tablet snaps into prevents the cable from fully penetrating the tablet. This second Logitech design flaw can be corrected with a bezel and dremmel to remove some of the plastic that protrudes past the charging port. On the other end of the lid/keyboard, the plastic holding the tablet covers half of the IR emitter. So if you want to use your device as a TV remote, you need to hold it properly. The worst thing about this device is that if you open the lid/keyboard 180 degrees, you won't be able to type on the onscreen keyboard in half the time because the magnets on the lid/keyboard make the device think it is closed. Or worse, you unlock it and the two halves touch and it locks again and turns off the tablet. (Yes, I know this feature can be disabled on a tablet) Overall: I kept the device because it's well made (but not well thought out), I was able to tweak it to overcome design flaws, and after using it tweaked it, I couldn't return it. Half of the problems described above would not be a problem if Samsung placed the charging port on the side. But I have to assume that if Logitech sells a case/keyboard for that particular device, they should at least have tried it first. But at the end of the day, set up and used alongside a BT mouse, it's like having a very portable/convertible laptop. And that was my goal.
