Choose a different mouse. Logitech devices with Unifying are somehow extremely unreliable. Loss of connection with a computer is such a common problem that apparently it can happen to anyone at any time. Its pros: Comfortable, pleasant mouse. But the software for it is rubbish and, as a result, it is impossible to work normally in Windows 8. Different cons: Constantly loses connection with the computer. Tips from Logitech don't help fix these problems. It feels like the manufacturer doesn't care how the device works in Windows 8.
