I consider myself a moderate DIYer; That is, practical enough to replace light fixtures, faucets, toilets, etc., but without the experience of putting things where they don't exist. After reading some of the comments about the poor design and the complexity of the installation I finally ordered one of these with some ambivalence as a test replacement for just 1 of the 5 under cabinet lights in my kitchen. It took me about 15 minutes the first time to realize how it all fell apart, connected and came back together. Then I grabbed my tools (flathead and Phillips screwdrivers, hammer, tap, drill with 3/32-inch bit, ruler, marker) and got to work. less than 30 minutes and I took my time. Once I understood how the parts fit together and the order of installation, it was very easy. I didn't pinch, cut or stretch, although it was a bit uncomfortable working under the closet. I am very happy with the result and the product so I have ordered 4 additional units and I can probably install each in less than 15 minutes without any rush. So don't let the other reviews put you off. If I can do it, most likely you can too.
