Dyson Link air purifiers introduced many new technologies in early 2016, such as air quality sensors and app control. Later this year, Dyson will introduce a new model that adds a heating element. It's not clear how many air quality sensors are on board this and other 2016 models. In the app, the user only sees an "Air Quality" number, which, unlike the 2018 models, says nothing about whether fine dust such as pollen or VOCs from cleaning agents affect the quality. The application shows the user the current air quality value and provides a graph of past values. Unfortunately, the generated graphs are delayed by 2 hours for the 2016 models compared to the 30 minute delay for the 2018 model. Overall, the 2018 model has improved this feature by expanding the range of sensor data and providing 4 different measurements for sensor data as well as temperature and humidity as well as faster updates. The oscillation function of this model will also be greatly expanded and improved in future models. While this model can only oscillate 90 degrees and turn on or off, newer models have a servo feedback system that tells the machine where it is and allows the user to precisely control the angle. and degree of fluctuation from the Dyson app. This model allows the user to control whether the air output is focused or diffuse, both of which exit from the front of the device. Newer models offer the same controls but have a motor baffle switch that changes the direction of airflow from forward to diffuse reverse. There is a slight difference in tone/volume between focused and diffuse modes on all models. The diffusion mode for the newer 2018 model is an improvement as it allows the air purifier to operate year-round during the cooler months without any annoying drafts. HEPA filter and activated carbon/graphite crystals to neutralize harmful gases. This filter seems easier to install compared to newer models. Although in newer 2018 models the capacity of HEPA and carbon filters has been increased and they can be replaced separately. Overall I would recommend waiting for this model to be updated to the 2018 model which has the latest Dyson technology. introduced in the 2018 Pure Cool line. The improved base, sensor/app integration and filters are definitely worth the wait.
