Received my new Garmin HRM-Dual heart rate chest strap from Revain today and took it straight to my cycling class Columbia Pike bike bar. I love it! This is exactly what I needed. It supports two Bluetooth signals as well as ANT+. Now I don't need Garmin 010 10997 00, Polar H7 and Scosche Rhythm+ series straps which can be combined together to connect with Concept2 PM5, iPod Touch, Garmin 920xt and even Keizer M3 and Schwinn bikes. BICYCLE. Technically, HRM-Dual transmits real-time heart rate data via an ANT+ connection and dual BLUETOOTH Low Energy (LE) technology. The new Garmin HRM dual heart rate chest strap replaces them all. Ignore what DC Rainmaker has to say about this strap that it's just a pack feed. This is the strap I've been waiting for. Yes, maybe the Wahoo TICKR is better rated by TICKRX at the lower end ($50) and offers more features like storage at the higher end ($80); However, I will never use the Wahoo app and will never need the save feature. While the base TICKR offers the same functionality for $20 less, it's not Garmin, its battery lasts 1/3 longer, and that's $20 over the next decade I'll probably have on all my machines and devices will use. Apart from that, DC Rainmaker has given an amazing review on both their website and YouTube. I also prefer electrical (ECG) heart rate monitors over optical (PPG) heart rate monitors. Although both work, I have deep veins and so sometimes the optical heart rate monitors are either too late or can miss by a few seconds. While IKG monitors like the HRM-Dual need moisture to ensure a strong connection to pulse and heart rate, I have a tube of Spectra 360 electrode gel next to my Concept2 that seems to be working. yes it is more more expensive than the competition but the battery lasts 3.5 years and it's a Garmin and if it replaces everything, even the gym, rowerg, skierg, my watches and bikes then I'm ready to go. I wore both the Polar H7 on my chest and the Scosche Rhythm+ optical heart rate monitor on my arm. Polar H7 supports Bluetooth and Scosche Rhythm+ supports ANT+. So I'm excited. It worked great with my watch and my Schwinn Blue Carbon Spinbike with no hiccups; The signal is pretty strong though, so my cyclist neighbor recorded my ANT+ signal on her monitor while she was riding. I mean, I don't really care - and most CYCLEBAR riders don't seem to wear heart rate monitors - so I'll see how it holds up over time. I need a heart rate monitor that tracks ANT+ and Bluetooth. , preferably more than one Bluetooth LE channel. I always use either a Bluetooth enabled device or an ANT+ device. Often, like in spin class, I needed both at the same time and wore two heart rate monitors: first two chest straps (terrible), then a chest strap and a wrist strap. It was fine, but the arm strap needed to be charged overnight, and I'm not 100% buying optical heart rate monitors for anything other than my activity tracker. When DC Rainmaker introduced Garmin's new electric (not optical) heart rate strap, I immediately ordered it. It hasn't even been delivered yet. When it arrived I took it straight to the spin class and it worked. Perhaps the only downside is that the Garmin HRM dual signal is strong enough for cars around you to pick up your heart rate. Either the lady next to me in cycling class and synced my heart rate, or her Schwinn was showing my heart rate as well. But that's no problem. My guess is that if the person next to me had a thong, their proximity might take precedence over mine. May be? Another potential downside is that the strap attaches with the same bra-like Velcro hooks as the Polar H7, which can become less secure as the strap ages and stretches a bit, rather than the correct ones. Clip or something like the button-based attachments the Wahoo TICKR has (nice feature), or plastic clips like those on older but cheap Garmin 010 10997 00 heart rate monitors.
