I'm a programmer who spends too much time on the computer and a good mouse is essential to prevent fatigue. I upgraded my wired mouse at the office to another version of this mouse and loved it so much I had to buy one at home. However, this version doesn't have as much battery life. The second turns itself off after 15 minutes of inactivity. It never turns off (at least when the computer is sleeping). I drained my first battery pretty quickly which was disappointing. The working version still runs on the same battery and any coworker who tries to use my computer and sees the mouse not moving gets frustrated which is a huge bonus. to me. All you have to do is click and it will come back. However, simply shaking it does nothing. The first time the screen goes black when the computer is asleep (when you would normally shake your mouse to wake it up) is quite confusing and fun. Pretty quickly you get used to clicking the mouse, then shaking the mouse, and then the computer wakes up. Unless you're too computer savvy and not too concerned about battery life, make sure you get the version that doesn't turn off after a few minutes. I have very small hands so this mouse is a bit big. for me but should be fine for medium hands. The "Previous" and "Next" buttons on the side are really useful and I don't accidentally press them due to the curvature of the mouse. I like that this one has a clearer outline than the one I got from them which looks simpler. The scroll wheel is solid with some rubber added to keep your hands from slipping off while scrolling like some other branded plastic wheels. Adjusting the mouse speed is very easy with the push of a button, so you can adjust it for each program you use (e.g. games, drawing, just using a word document, etc.). Other mice require you to log into the operating system to set this up. A really cool feature of this mouse compared to other brands is that the USB receiver is housed inside the mouse. If you need to travel with it, you'll never lose your USB. Overall, this mouse is definitely well thought out and incredibly affordable. This is way better than most mice you will find in the store.
