The rating is low because of the price. This single item costs $49.99. Two from the same seller are $20 more expensive. It would be advisable to buy 2 packs. This is a good softbox for the money you pay for it. The stand is what you would expect at this price point. Good for starters. Since this is a stater, when shooting with others, you'll need to use a sandbag that can knock the contraption over. This tripod is thin and nothing like the pro gear. The sandbag is empty and you need to provide a porter to fill it up. This device has 3 colors and no remote control. I have another brand that includes removal but no sandbag. When purchasing, decide whether a sandbag or remote control would be more useful to you. If you want to change the color without clicking a switch. A remote version other than this may be better for you. If you use an empty sandbag more often, this is more suitable. Check my pictures for height.
