
Updates: It's been almost a year and I've used this device less than 10 times and it no longer works . Leave the meat for 9 hours, not drying at all. Let it run for 9 hours, same result. Unfortunately, the one-year warranty expires in a few days. ****** It was something between 9 Excaliber trays and a Magic Mill. After comparing the specs, I chose the Magic Mill Pro XI because I like the stainless steel body and 10 wire baskets. Costs a little more than an Excaliber but comes with many more accessories. This is a well built unit. It's heavier and has 1000 watts versus a 600 watt Excaliber. I don't know how that will affect the electricity bill. It has an electronic timer and temperature control but I can only change the timer in 30 minute increments and the temperature in 9-10 degree increments. I'm not sure if that's how it should be, it's not a problem for me. Works pretty quiet. I've used this to cook jerky pork and it takes 7 to 8 hours to get the leathery consistency I want before grilling. Next time we will try beef jerky. A week in use and so far very satisfied.
