Review on GVM Continuous Lighting Video Recording Camera & Photo by Walter Day

No frills, fairly bright LED, noticeable fan noise

Each GVM 80W LED is light and bright enough for me to hold quick product shots with my phone, even with the light bouncing off the ceiling to soften it to make bright. The construction is somewhat flimsy plastic with some metal components such as a retaining ring and a reflector. The angle adjustment knob and hardware are made of plastic, which limits the weight you can conveniently put on the lamp, such as B. heavy octagonal softboxes. Light output is consistent when the reflector is off, but casts some shadows when the reflector is on. , as is typical for open lanterns with reflectors. The controls consist solely of a single on/off/dimmer knob with no screen or meter for the level meter. There is no remote control. The power supply is a cheap replacement for a laptop. The output cable connecting the power supply to the lamp is too short to reach from the fixture to the floor when the included lighting stand is extended to its full height so you will need to find a way to attach the power supply to your light stand - no attachments included. The fan is quiet, like *whispering actually*, not silent. The whispers are still audible, and you don't want two people whispering while trying to capture audio. I wouldn't want to use this light on professional shots where dialogue or interviews are being recorded. The fans are relatively quiet but noticeable, and they're always on no matter what brightness level you set. Your sane person will not be happy. They're quieter than my MacBook when the fans are running at full speed, but it's hard to characterize more precisely. It's not a miracle light. They work, bright enough for my intended use, a bit dim, may not last long, are not quiet, have a small damage to the coating of one of the LED emitters which may or may not affect performance. lifetime and/or light colour. I'm not sure whether or not to return the bulbs due to this defect as the next bulbs could have the exact same problem and who knows if UPS will destroy the next package I receive...
