Review on πŸ•οΈ Aqua Quest Hideaway Bivy: Stealth Compact Single-Pole Hooped Tent - Waterproof & Breathable for Hunting, Hiking, Camping by Blake Pudic

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Well built and lightweight. A few items are missing

I am new to tents but not outdoors so please forgive any criticism caused by ignorance. First, I like it for the size, the materials, and the build. The stitching looks good and the design is well thought out. It's lightweight and doesn't take up much space. A hoop/rod is a beautiful design. There's decent ventilation even when you're closed in the rain. I'm interested in getting in in the pouring rain. It will be difficult to keep the interior dry if you enter from the top and you will have to open the entire panel to get inside. However, the tent is also missing a few small things, which is why I only give it three stars. The footprint is missing and probably needed as the floor material is quite thin. Tyvek will do.2. Apparently it takes up to 13 pegs for windy days, and there are only 5 in the kit. Also, there are no guy ropes for 3-5 places to use them - two at the foot, two at the sides and one for the headboard. . The photos only show one thing, but the reality is that the tent is much more spacious when fully extended. No installation instructions or diagrams are included - you'll have to go online to see pictures if you can't figure it out yourself. Most people with a background of using a tent will have no problem.4. Around the top edge of the door is what appears to be a shroud that has a built in stiffener. This stiffener is plastic I think and it's very bent and wavy from the packaging. I suppose it's a great design idea if the tent has never been rolled up and packed in a bag, but in storage this element degrades to the point where it becomes ineffective. While this doesn't prevent the tent from being used, it does make the canopy a bit sluggish and unusable on its own. A similar stiffening element is located in the rain cover for ventilation at the top/back of the tent. It's smaller and hasn't bent much during storage. Overall I like this tent and can easily adapt to its shortcomings. I have plenty of extra tent pegs and can easily create some guy lines where I want. Recommended with restrictions. Not a bad investment for a scout or casual user. Cannot be built for Wanderer or Miltac.
