I bought a Dell 2209WA to replace my standard Hanns-G 199N 19" flat screen. I create fantasy art in Photoshop and need accurate color across the entire screen. I needed the same quality on a widescreen monitor. You normally get a TN panel for gaming because of the super refresh rate, an MVA panel for movies because of more realistic blacks, and an IPS panel for graphics and art because of consistent colors It turns out that the e-IPS 2209WA panel (a budget version of IPS ) is very close in quality to my excellent Hanns-G and HP. The colors are really rich and complex. The only aspect I can't match with my old monitor is the native contrast (I've never tried color calibration because my audience I haven't used them.) the contrast is around 70, but the highlights in my images are still too bright. it's slight though, and the color itself is excellent net. Considering the price of another 22-inch widescreen IPS monitor, I'm more than willing to live with a difference that only my eye will notice. By the way, I'm using a DVI connector. I'm not a gamer so can't talk about refresh rates or ghosting. Here you are on your own. Important note: This is a monitor with an aspect ratio of 16:10, which means that widescreen formats are intended for computer use and not for movie viewing. If you want to watch DVDs on PC without the black bars at the top and bottom, get a monitor with a 16:9 aspect ratio. This monitor also has a matte screen to eliminate glare. This is crucial for an artist or anyone serious about viewing art, but if you're used to a bright, glossy screen you'll find it boring. The screen height of this monitor is just a fraction of a second lower than the height of a traditional 19 inch monitor. So if, like me, you're moving from a standard 19-inch flat screen, your eyes won't notice the vertical difference. Basically, you take a standard 19-inch screen and turn it into a widescreen. a stand that adjusts itself with a spring to the weight of the monitor. It works very well and the stand is easy to assemble and disassemble. The control panel is intuitive for me, so there are no problems with it. And I'm very glad that this monitor doesn't pretend to have speakers. I won't be using USB ports either, but they're there if you want them. My 2209WA arrived with no dead pixels, no backlight bleeding and no image distortion. Really really good. I highly recommend it, especially for serious digital artists on a budget. Final Notes: When purchasing, be careful not to confuse it with the 2209W, which is NOT the same. If you need an e-IPS panel, you need to purchase the WA model. And look for a sale. It can sometimes be found for less than $300.
