After buying 3 different cone collars to protect my dog from chewing wounds this one finally managed to keep him from getting into the sores. I would still have preferred the collar to be an inch lower, but it was sturdy and the velcro worked really well. The only minor comment is how noisy the velcro is when the collar is removed as it is so close to the dog's ears that it annoys him but after a few days he got used to it. It was comfortable to wear compared to some other hard collars. I would recommend to others looking for the right cone collar, please measure your pet from head to snout (nose) to ensure the depth is deep enough to prevent licking and biting. They are very creative in finding a way around shorter cone collars, including inflatable cone collars. I recommend this purchase.
