This is a great controller that controls your light in photoperiod mode: light on at dusk, off at dawn. I installed this product in two streetlights in my garage. One of the lights was not easy to operate as the switch was on the other side of the garage next to the front door. If your garage is like mine. this is a complete mess! So an automatic switch is a real plus. Installation was easy: unscrew the bulb and screw it back into this dimmer. Then screw the bulb and regulator back into the bracket. The instructions state that the peephole should be aimed at an area that would normally be illuminated by daylight and not at another light source that you would normally illuminate at night. The product seems to have been improved, the photocell seems to be smaller than shown in the picture, so there is less chance of the light working at the wrong time. I installed this product in the light to be as dense as usual and think I'll adjust it (point the sensor (photocell) to a different area) if the light doesn't work as expected: turns on much later from the day i thought it had to happen or else the darkness had to become visible before the light came on again. I'm happy to report that no further adjustment was required. The controls worked exactly how I wanted them to. In my case. Plug and play! YUP! The regulator is designed to work with all types of lamps: old-fashioned tungsten filament, LED or compact fluorescent lamps cover the full range of popular lamps. Lightbulb base showing where the photoelectric eye is located. In my experience, photo eyes are difficult to see in the light. I intended to draw a line in case I need to recalibrate the controls. Many things claim to be ready to use out of the box. many don't. but this one does. extremely satisfied!
