I have had a sourdough starter for many years which I got from my mother who got it from her mother etc. I keep it in an old jar that I got from my great-grandmother. . He's still in that jar. I was thinking that learning the art of sourdough would be a good gift for my sister-in-law and I couldn't send her a live start email. The container is square in shape with a snap-on lid. And you get a spatula and thermometer with a sticker just like you use on fish tanks and labels. Unfortunately, there are no instructions or other materials about the sourdough in the kit. It would be nice to include dry sourdough and some information about sourdough bread. For the reasons above, I wouldn't call this a kit for those starting out with sourdough. This might be a kit for those experienced with sourdough and looking for a new container. If you have experience and are looking for a new container, that's fine. If you're looking for a gift to help someone get started with sourdough, look elsewhere. . You'll have to get everything for the starter elsewhere.
