I used a 1/4" diamond hole saw to drill holes in my bathroom ceramic tile to install these shelves. There are many videos on youtube on how to do this - - for porcelain diamond hole saws are required if you want to be sure not to chip the tile.Putting each hole takes some time and effort but this is how it's done .I rotated the dowels as I inserted them to make sure the silicone was properly seated sticking to the walls of the hole and not just getting into the gap between the walls.I was then able to complete the installation by screwing the supplied stainless steel screws into the brackets to hold the shelves, after which the shelves were installed in place .
