This review is for BlackRapid Breathe Cross Shot. After receiving this camera strap, I don't know why I spent so long looking for alternative camera straps to replace the OEM camera strap. I researched several different camera straps and settled on this one based on the positive online reviews. After trying this strap I wish I had tried replacing my original strap years ago. My only criticism of this harness, like most other sling harnesses, is that it doesn't come with a lanyard for protection in case the screw in the connector loosens or breaks. Given the price of these straps, I don't see why they don't include an inexpensive strap to attach the buckle to the original strap mount on the camera. Instead of buying one, I decided to create my own tether to secure the strap in such a way that I couldn't unscrew it and if it broke the tether would snag on the strap's buckle. With my original camera strap, I used it as a sling a lot because it was a more comfortable way to carry it when not in use. However, when I was ready to shoot, I had to lift it over my head, then wrapped the strap around my arm a few times and started shooting. Using the BlackRapid Cross Shot just got a lot easier now that I just bring the camera to my eye, take the picture(s) and then lower the camera back to my waist. I don't have to worry about wrapping the strap around my arm for security because that strap is already wrapped around my body and the camera isn't going anywhere. How does this belt work and what are its functions? First of all, the rubber shoulder straps are very comfortable and thin, they stay in place very well and hardly slip off. I don't know how comfortable it will be in a sleeveless shirt. The strap itself measures 1-1/2" and has a quick release buckle so you don't have to pull it over your head. The strap also has two different stoppers so you can adjust the range of motion the camera moves through. The strap is adjustable, I'm about 5ft 8" tall with a slim build so I had to adjust the strap as short as possible. In this configuration I need to have a quick release buckle on the back for the sling to work properly. This isn't a problem , as I already use my old strap as a sling, the main difference with this is that it's a one-time operation and not many times. The D-loop that screws into the camera's bottom screw mount seems to be of high quality and includes a rubber grommet to prevent over tightening and loosening but I believe it may eventually work itself loose, definitely worth a kabe l to buy or install to protect your camera.
