Take your time to find studs

First, let's take a moment and appreciate how adorable these suspenders are. I mean hello! Cute little cat heads to stick that tree on the wall? Yes, please! But seriously, this is a pretty cute scratching post overall. There are many parts, all are well marked, but it still took me 10-15 minutes to assemble everything. Mounting it on the wall was another struggle. I had no problems with the tall tree part. It's quick to assemble and with the included wall anchors and screws it mounts easily and looks very solid. I'll probably cover the shelves and my cats didn't seem very confident jumping from one to the other and the shelves are too deep to easily zoom in. Other free-floating parts were a little different. I 100% recommend finding a stud to attach them to or investing in better anchors, if only because the closed ones pulled right out of the wall when I first hung them. So now I have a big hole to patch. The sisal ones feel very secure now that I've screwed them into the stud. My biggest complaint is with the free-floating hammock. First, there are some very bad spots on the wood, which unfortunately are outward facing. Second, even with two screws in the studs and two screws in the anchors, it doesn't seem reliable. I lined up my fattest cat to have a look and she rocked hard. I don't think he was enthusiastic about it. Finally, the pieces don't line up well, and that's very obvious. For the price I expected a little more. But still, I'm not mad about it. And I think my cats will love it if I make a few more modifications.
