I really like this light. Huge amount of light for what you pay. A halogen modeling light gets VERY hot and has absolutely no shielding. I bought this lantern to use with a 7ft umbrella and diffuser. Despite all the care, the bulb melted several holes in the diffuser. For the same reason, it is not a light to travel with. If you are in a studio and your light can stay in the same place for a lifetime, this is a fantastic light. But if you move it around between uses or store it, that bare halogen bulb sticking out from the body might annoy you. It gets hot enough to cause severe skin burns.
