I think this cat house is well made for the price. I bought one size smaller. He was on my porch so I didn't have to tie him to the floor. I tied it to a milk crate to keep it from being blown away by the wind and to keep it from coming in contact with hot or wet concrete. My porch gets stuck in the rain From the outside, the house is definitely waterproof. He stayed dry. (Do not wash in the washing machine, if necessary only wipe with baby wipes) The interior of the house did not heat up in direct sunlight. It was comfortable. The only drawback is that there is no rain cover. If it was standing on its own on the ground I think you would have to do something like a rain cover.
