All I needed was 2 ports but this ICZI hub was the cheapest I could find with USB 3.0. So 4 ports was a bonus. Nowhere in the specification have I found any mention of whether it can transmit data at the same time. So I expected the worst: that a switch had to be flipped on the port to be used, or that it would automatically switch to the first port that should have connected regardless of what the other ports are doing. I dared to buy it; my hard drive was backing up my computer and my printer was printing at the same time. It supports simultaneous data transmission. Since I wanted to connect my printer and hard drive to my AirPort Extreme so my family's computers could print and back up data wirelessly, I figured I would need to set up my AirPort Extreme to recognize the hard drive. via a USB hub, as I read online somewhere. The ICZI concentrator surprises me because it works perfectly and immediately. It acted like a part of my AirPort Extreme, like my AirPort Extreme had 4 ports all the time. Was there a recent firmware update for my AirPort Extreme that made the installation unnecessary? Has the ICZI hub tricked my AirPort Extreme into believing it has 4 ports? Whatever the case, I couldn't be happier.
