I ordered this coat in size 10/12 for my 10 year old son. He's tall for his age but of average weight and wears a size 10/12 top so I was really surprised that this coat fit him like a glove without leaving room. His shoulders were particularly tense, and his coat hauled up as he raised his hands. Sizing aside, this is a great coat so I immediately went back and ordered a size 14/16 (hasn't arrived yet). He hasn't worn a 14/16 since he was only 10, but maybe this coat runs small due to the padding. It's definitely heavier than I expected and will survive much worse winters than what we have in the Bay Area. My son loves the cozy lining and the hood and the little thumb hole mitts that are part of the sleeves. He can't wait to get a bigger size.
