Review on Epson Expression 12000XL-PH Flatbed Scanner - Unparalleled High Definition Scanning Superiority by Todd Phillips

I had an old Epson flatbed scanner that worked fine but was very slow. I have owned and sold two different drum scanners which are great but for fast processing of a full roll of negatives forget it. With this scanner you can load two film holders at the same time. So if it's 35mm, that's 48 frames of film at a time. Silverfast runs a batch scan. So once you have everything set up, press the button and away you go. However, you need to pay around $100-$150 to upgrade the bundled version of Silverfast for this feature. The scans are very clear. For typical 35mm film shots there isn't much of a difference between this and a drum scan, although you are limited to 2200dpi so the resolution isn't great with a 35mm image. But I like this scanner, it's built commercially through and through. Highly recommended.
