Review on Logitech G G502 Hero Gaming Mouse, Black by Boguslawa Terpeluk ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Completely standard product, nothing remarkable.

Reactions to the transition from the G102 to the G502 model. To a large extent, content. The additional buttons that I was most interested in getting were included, however they came with a hold that was uncomfortable because of some strange design decision. I spent a week learning how to hold the mouse so that none of the protrusions would poke me in the hand. Once I did that, using the mouse became much more convenient. I simply moved my hand back a little bit, but in order to do so, I had to give up the ability to use the sniper button, which means that I am unable to access it at the moment. This is due to the fact that the button is in an odd location, protruding beyond the thumb rest, which is where it is most convenient to hold this finger, particularly in terms of mouse balance. Thus, I am not yet completely clear on how to make use of this mouse. After constructing a "prosthesis" out of a plastic purchased from AliExpress in order to close an awkward cutout on the case, I found that using the mouse was significantly more pleasant.

Pros
  • Convenient additions. I put the binds in the games that I make first and foremost on the buttons, particularly the wheel tilts. In order to accommodate additional buttons, the value g102 was changed to g502. Excellent visibility of the wheel positions.
Cons
  • A highly awkward cutout on the body of the mouse, located on the lower left portion of its surface. It is precisely the portion of the palm that rests on the mouse (in the space between the wrist and the thumb) that comes into contact with a somewhat sharp edge. There is a trace of mouse use left on the hand after using the mouse. LMB and occasionally RMB are routinely pressed by the weight of the finger and are then treated with an impromptu "spring" made of cardboard. This is done in order to maintain a consistent tone. As a result of the fact that pushing the MCM is more difficult in comparison to pressing the side pressings on the wheel, the side pressings frequently work by accident, which causes interference. Hard rubber makes up a considerable portion of the body's surface; yet, it is unclear why this material is required. When compared to the typical plastic found on the G102, the hand grip provided by this rubber is far poorer. As you lift your fingers from the LMB, PKM, and the wheel, they all make a horrible rattling sound; nevertheless, you will eventually get used to it. The wheel itself makes a loud spinning sound. After g102, the hand typically becomes tired of dragging this iron on the table, but you can grow used to it if you do it often. I utilize the walkie-talkie mode in Discord, and for this specific situation, I press the "sniper" button (under the thumb). The challenge is to locate a key or key combination on a computer that would not be considered a "hotkey" by a web browser or any other application. This is necessary so that when you turn on the radio, you do not accidentally perform any actions that you do not require at this time (mouse keys 4 and 5 are not suitable, them everywhere, except for games, the functions "back" and "forward" are assigned). In addition, several extra keys, such as 6, 7, or 8, which are not assigned by default to anything are not located on the mouse. Hence, look for a middle ground; I've settled on Num5 with the numpad disabled for the time being. Scrolling to the left and right of the game as buttons is not perceived; instead, you will need to input the buttons from the keyboard (or other mouse buttons) into the software that controls the mouse in order to tilt the wheel. In addition, the use of this scroll is, unfortunately, cumbersome in all aspects. For instance, it does not function in Adobe Acrobat; in Excel and Photoshop, it scrolls excessively quickly and very far (in Photoshop, it also scrolls in the opposite direction); as a consequence, the conventional method of horizontal scrolling in programs while holding down control or shift is significantly more effective. Because of its rough surface, the rubber quickly becomes clogged with debris and is difficult to clean.

Its pros: Compared to cars, it's a Ferrari! With its cons: I sometimes press the battle button during the game
