Works great, good way to support older NVMe PCs

I ended up giving my old device to my sister but she didn't have an NVMe slot which she desperately needs to run her OS so I got this. The first thing I want to note is that this only works with PCIe slots. So if you only have PCI slots, you shouldn't do this. Won't fit. I have a PCIe slot, but it was too close to my GPU where it wouldn't fit, nor did it get proper air cooling. That being said, I went with PCIe x16 (which is my second graphics card slot). It would be fair enough if it could get proper airflow and cooling. One thing I suggest is getting some kind of heatsink for your M2 NVMe drive. The reason is that these drives tend to get a bit warm. So if you don't have proper cooling, you could burn the drive. It comes with a low profile mount for smaller form factor computers. Replacing the bracket is not difficult either. All you have to do is loosen the screws near the plate, replace and retighten the screws. You can install any size M.2 NVMe drive in it. The standard seat always fits the longest ride, but you can adjust it to fit any size. Please note that this is not suitable for mSATA drives as they are larger than NVMe. I didn't need any drivers to read it and it behaved like a separate drive. I was able to install the operating system very quickly. This will definitely allow your NVMe drive to run fairly quickly and efficiently. The card itself is pretty thin, but make sure you reserve enough space as the drive gets very hot. You don't want improper air cooling. Overall I think this is a great device if you are trying to get an NVMe drive on a PC without these slots. Build quality is good, fits very well. The only thing I recommend is having enough clearance for decent airflow as the rims get pretty hot.

Pros
  • Supports booting on 2006-2012 cMP Mac Pro M models. 2 SSDs such as Samsung XP941 or Samsung SM951 provide boot support for pre-Sierra versions of mac OS/OSX. High Sierra and later both support NVMe M.2 SSDs, but you cannot boot an NVMe SSD on any version of Mac OS, you can only use it as a storage device if it is High Sierra or later. )
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
