I love to paint. Okay, I know a woman my advanced age shouldn't do that, but it's true. I find it relaxing and liberating. It's like meditation. Okay, enough of the metaphysical aspects of coloring. I wanted better quality pencils than the ones I send my kids to elementary schools. I wanted it in a compact, self-contained, durable package. I wanted my own (keep away from the kids!) pencil set. It's pretty good, but it didn't quite live up to all those expectations. The container is thin and does not close. The moment you pick it up, your pencils and pastels are all over the floor. Pooh. I love the pens and the colors they produce. I love that it has a sharpener and pencil slots inside. If only the lid really stayed closed I would give it 4 or 5 stars. If you have a child who loves art and takes good care of their supplies, this would be a good starter kit. Mine will probably end up in a plastic container in one of the children's bedrooms and I'll still be dreaming of my own pretty pens.
