I have a phone jack for a wall phone. It's in the kitchen and somewhere I don't need cables and docks and things like that on the counter so I keep getting these caller ID wall phones that don't require AC and they ALL have the same problem. They take batteries and the caller ID is pretty much unreadable, but after about two weeks it doesn't matter much because the batteries die then. I'm not interested in changing batteries every two to three weeks, so I don't use caller ID. It's probably silly to have a landline anyway, but I've had the same phone number for 35 years and it's cheaper than a cell phone number.
