Review on 23.8" Monitor AOC 24P1, 1920x1080, 76Hz, IPS, black by Mateusz Grabowski ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A good product, but having its own defects.

Image: There is no flickering, including at low brightness. 75 Hz no, only 60. Gradients in tests are visible, but in real work they are invisible. The default brightness is very high, I had to lower it to 20%. Pixelation is noticeable if you look closely, but in real work it does not catch your eye. The moving image in the tests noticeably smears, but this does not interfere with playing games. When the deviation from the center vertically more than 30 degrees, or horizontally more than 60 degrees, the screen appears a noticeable darkening, although the image remains distinguishable. So 178 degrees is a clear exaggeration. Sound: The speakers are frankly weak - they will only fit if there is nothing else at all. The sound is quiet even at the maximum, I had to additionally increase the volume through the control panel. On the monitor itself, the sound is not adjusted or turned off. Sound can be transmitted via HDMI or via a separate audio cable. There is a speaker / headphone output, sound can also go to it via HDMI - you can connect speakers even without a separate sound output on the computer. When the image is turned off (for example, when switching to power-saving mode), the sound is also turned off, including the headphones connected to the monitor. USB: USB 3 really works. When the image is turned off, the hub continues to work, when the monitor is turned off with the button, it stops. The port with "fast" charging is somehow weak, obviously does not give 18 watts. Fastening: Convenient delivery, easy to attach and remove. It has height, tilt and swivel adjustment. The stand is flat - you can put any little thing on it (for example, a Web-camera). The stand has a hole for passing all the wires. The monitor has a VESA connector for mounting on a wall or bracket. The incoming USB from the computer is inconvenient - when passing the cable through the stand, you have to bend it strongly. And if the cable goes separately - it looks sloppy and interferes. It would be more convenient if this connector was made next to HDMI.

Pros
  • The image is normal, the monitor is quite suitable for office tasks, movies and games (except, perhaps, the sharpest ones). After adjusting the brightness behind the monitor, you can safely work all day. Small peripherals can be connected directly to the monitor. Convenient stand.
Cons
  • Weak built-in speakers (as, indeed, with all other monitors) are suitable for Skype, but if you listen to music, then you need to take separate speakers. Darkening the image with a strong deviation. 5 ms is not present, the real response is noticeably more.
