Uneven firmness across multiple pillows

Honestly, I don't know how to rate this product. There were a lot of good reviews so I was optimistic. When I got my first pillow it was almost like brick even when it was warm. Almost too hard for me but after a few nights of sleep I felt my neck pain had subsided. I have a 14 year old neck injury so I'm always looking for ways to deal with it. Since it seemed to help and is firm, I ordered a second pillow for my husband who loves firm pillows. What we got was like a completely different pillow. While the first was very hard, this one was very soft. Virtually no support. Since he usually likes firmer pillows, I gave my husband a firm one and tried the soft one. A completely different sleeping experience. And not in a good way. It was too soft and didn't provide much support, so the neck pain returned. I decided to return the pillow and exchange it for another of the same type, hoping that it will be the same as the first one I bought. It was better but not the same. This pillow is now the fourth pillow I've bought and I'm returning it now because it's even softer. These pillows don't seem firm at all. The first is good and the third is fine so I'm keeping the two but returning the rest. Not sure if it's worth ordering a whole bunch just to find one that works when they should be the same. It looks like there should be different options for hardness levels if they are so incompatible.

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Mostly good, but...
