Ultimate Streaming Camera

Mevo Start is a great camera for live streaming or recording. This is good for those who are just starting out with streaming. It's reasonably priced and offers a lot of great features. You can broadcast almost any service live. The camera can be connected via Wi-Fi or Ethernet (requires a separate adapter). Wi-Fi works well if you have good hotspots and good signals. Streaming quality depends on download speed. Recordings are stored directly on the camera but you will need a micro SD card as it is not included but they are very affordable. To use the camera, you need an Android or iOS tablet or phone. There is an application that controls and configures the camera. There is a built-in microphone that works well. You can also connect an external audio source to the 3.5mm Aux jack. It is configurable for microphone level input or line level input (e.g. for a sound card). The application has volume controls. It fits almost any tripod (standard 1/4 screw). I found a battery life of 4-5 hours, which should be good in most cases. The camera has a USB-C port that can be used for an external power supply or an Ethernet adapter. The LED indicator on the front of the camera lets you know the connection status and I think it can also act as a tally indicator. A nice feature is the digital zoom. You can see what the camera sees in the app. The app also allows you to zoom in and out on the camera image. You can also move the magnified frame around the entire camera field, almost like a PTZ. The video feed is pretty good and there are settings for things like low light and outdoor shots. The camera looks and feels good. There is no lens cap, so you may need a case for one. The camera can also be configured as an NDI source and works great with OBS, zoom and all. A good start and can still be used in more advanced settings (like OBS). Keep in mind that the app can only be used with one camera at a time (you can switch cameras back and forth). The multi-camera app is under development and currently in beta testing.
