Honestly I don't know the exact purpose of this cover. Obviously it will not protect your computer from a very high drop. But for some reason my computer restarts when I lift it and apply enough force to the floor. I've had kernel panic issues on my MacBook in the past and mostly fixed it, but still had trouble restarting it when I held it. But with that case underneath I've never had a problem since. I'll add that this case is definitely not abrasion and scratch resistant. So if you're looking for a case that will make everything look new and fresh, this isn't it. I personally didn't care. My MacBook is not a model. I just need it to function. And this case does not prevent my computer from working.
