That smell? suitable for bedding

what is that smell? I received them in a small box that threatened to burst on all sides. I smelled pillows as I carried them into the elevator. The smell is so strong. It's the smell of gas. Most commonly associated with memory foam. Supposedly polyester. I washed them immediately and threw them in the dryer for a maximum of an hour. The smell is still strong. I have concerns about sharing my bed with my pet. So far, neither baby powder nor lavender spray have helped to get rid of the bad smell.
