That's a good innovation. Not great but it would be with some modifications. Today I used it for the first time, I cut chicken breasts for cutlets. First, the block must have better gripping ability. Slid across the tiled counter trying to carve a chicken. Finally, dampen a cloth and place it under the device. Helped a bit. When slicing anything other than tomatoes or other round objects, use a serrated (?) surface insert to hold the pieces in place of whatever you're trying to slice. All in all this is a good product.
