It provides me with my basic need of communicating to people from different locations around the world without any hassle or fear that I might be caught in some country which has strict rules about using such apps like WhatsApp.

If you're looking for something simple then this app will suit your needs just fine. Nothing much to dislike so far as it's an easy way to communicate through text messaging but sometimes there are issues regarding connectivity where certain parts of India have problems connecting. So use at own risk! Communicating between employees across countries/ time zones can't get more easier than via wireapp.
