Setup worked fine Voice over IP issue

Overall 4 stars for this product with the only notable issue being a minor compatibility issue with my Voice over IP phone. Pros: Installation was very easy. As long as you remember to download the drivers and software on your laptop BEFORE attempting to connect the product, you shouldn't have much of a problem. I first installed the product on a Dell Inspiron n5110 and then on an HP Pavilion dv9000. Both times with no problems. Please remember to check the Targus website for the latest software/driver updates after installing from disc. The video portion bothered me since I'm using an external 27" monitor with advanced settings. In other words, my workspace was split into 2 screens, a laptop and a 27" external screen, but it worked fine. OK: Unlike other docking stations where you lay your laptop/laptop down and then press down to connect, this device, which should really be called a port replicator, requires a USB cable and a power cable to connect to the laptop get connected. Of course, you can also drain your laptop battery, in which case you only need to connect a USB cable. It's not as simple as a docking station, but after all, this type of box is designed for computers that don't have a bottom connector. Typically, business laptops have a bottom connector, allowing you to use a docking station where there isn't a laptop too Home or living space is what gives this Targus product its full value. The bad thing: After a few uses, and especially when I had to restart the computer after installing new software, I noticed that I was losing my network connection. My facility works over voip phone. In other words, my network/internet cable goes from the wall to my phone, then another cable goes from the phone to the Targus USB Dock. When I bypass the phone it seems to work fine, but if I want my phone and computer to be able to access the network I have to restart the computer twice after installing new software. Just wanted to mention that this might be important for those of you with similar setups, other than that this product is great and works well.
