I don't usually write reviews but this product had so many reviews that I was confused reading it I thought this review might help. First of all I would like to say that this is a great product once you understand what it is and what its purpose is. This is body cosmetics, not tanning! While it can and does glow in the sun like a sunless self-tanner, its uses and properties vary widely. I went with the "lightest" shade and it makes my very fair skin look beautifully tanned. It's not a deep tan, but very close to my usual tan. I bought this product because after multiple pregnancies I have developed many unsightly veins in my legs that make me shy when my legs are exposed. Let me highlight this product: 1.) This is a waterproof makeup base. It's not fully soap proof so you can see small steaks after you shower, not difficult at all to touch up and blend streaks. 2.) It can be built up until you get the coverage you need or want. The color gets deeper the more layers you apply. I don't find it necessary to use more than two coats. 3.) Since it is not a self-tanner, it dries quickly and does not stain after drying. Many reviewers have mentioned mixing it with other lotions or smearing the lotion on the areas you would normally apply lotion to before using the self-tanner (elbows, knees, around feet and ankles, palms). This is neither required nor recommended. I believe this contributes to many reviews complaining of this being rubbed off. Other lotions interfere with the adhesion of the base. 4.) The color you get after application is the color it stays. It doesn't develop over time like a sunburn. This makes it very easy to achieve a perfectly even finish. The coverage I got isn't full coverage (I don't think it would hide a tattoo) but it greatly improves discoloration and unsightly veins. The improvement is enough to make me feel comfortable with visible legs. 5.) Although sold for the legs, it can be used on any area of the body, including the face, with ease. 6.) It can be easily peeled off when you're done with it. 7.) No special care is required when tightening by hand. It is washed off with soap and water. 8.) I got a lot of compliments that my legs have never looked so good!
