Back to old school cotton pads

ok maybe it's just me. I like it, but I'm not a fan of just tossing them in the wash with dirty clothes. I use liquid fabric softener so I don't like the fact that they have that so I end up washing them separately which defeats the purpose of being more eco-friendly. So now I hand wash them with mild soap, which is a total hassle. and I don't like just air drying them because of the bacteria, so I still have to put them in a dryer on high heat. So what's the purpose again?
