I've been involved with music, recording and technology for decades. I've always used closed-back or in-ear headphones to minimize sound from the headphones into the mics or external noise/instruments entering the ear when trying to record. I've been wearing the HD280 to work all day for several months. they are heavy You don't breathe. I was amazed at how comfortable these headphones were. I forgot I had them on and walked away from my computer several times over the past week. This has never happened with the HD280s. I tried mixing records with the HD280 and found that the bass was either too high or too low depending on where and how tightly it was sealed. The DT 990's sound is solid and feels like it's my first time hearing anything from an audio device. I have several pairs of studio monitors and I find these headphones sound nicer and more accurate than any other.
