The seal doesn't hold.
So far, so good! This is the first waterproof pant I have ever bought and it really is waterproof. I've tried 5 different pairs in the past, all of which have resulted in my pants getting wet on my daily Seattle bike rides. That made me run dry. There is too much fabric in the crotch. But better than wet. Update: 3rd rain, no longer waterproof. Sad.
