Review on SRAM Supercork Bicycle Bar Tape: The Ultimate Grip and Comfort Solution by Ryan Hart

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Take control! This is a good band at a great price.

My experience with this product is based on wrapping a 44cm road handlebar with Fi'zi:k gel pads. I had enough tape to complete the packaging. Before installing, I measured the tape and it was 79 inches or 200.66 cm long. I tried to keep the overlap about half the width of the tape. happy with your first try. I wrapped my rods with enough tension and the tape was strong enough not to break like others have done. Tape tension is important as the adhesive on the back of the tape is not designed to hold it. Put permanently on the pole. It just makes installation easier. I finish the winding with a few turns of electrical tape. I throw away the finishing band because it isn't flexible and the band isn't flat. Some complain that this tape gets dirty easily. That's true because the tape has a porous surface, but the problem is solved. First I learned to drive with clean gloves. I wash my gloves after every ride and if they look very dirty I put gloves on. and wash my hands with Khan soap (usually foaming). When I first did this with gloves I've been using for a few years the water was dark brown and it took a few washes before the water was clear enough. Second, at least every 2-3 rides (every second in the summer), I spray the steering wheel with a detergent solution, then wrap the steering wheel with a clean rag and wiggle the ends of the rag back and forth to wipe down the rod. A spray bottle with water or a damp cloth complete the work. I just let the tape air dry. Another benefit of keeping your handlebars and gloves clean is that you're less likely to pick up really nasty germs when eating while riding. . It is inexpensive and very comfortable for long trips. Because it's so forgiving that even newcomers to steering wheel wraps can get their job done, as numerous reviews of this product attest. I see no reason why I shouldn't standardize this band across all my rides.
