Review on Enhanced Gaming Experience: KontrolFreek Performance Grips for Xbox One and Xbox Series X Controller (Nightfall Black) by Andrew Dickens

It's hard to get it right, but it works

You have to be very careful and it's hard to get it right. For example I didn't like that the right grip came too close to the B button (as intended) so I moved it down a bit but that means the knob part of the grip is almost overlapping etc. A few things, What I don't like is that the edges of the handle don't taper, so the edges are a bit sharp and don't fall off (maybe I'll try thinner ones next time). Another problem is the large gaps in the handle. I think the template could be redesigned to have fewer spaces and be easier to apply to a controller. I feel like the template needs an update as the Series X controller is slightly smaller than the original X One. It just didn't work out the way I could have imagined. After a few days of use I honestly just don't like the feeling. From bulky to thick etc. I ended up removing the entire front leaving just the padding at the back (similar to how Xbox Design Labs controllers work). So there isn't a lot of bulk and nothing up front to affect the feel etc. So I really don't think it's a good solution overall, and I think maybe just buying a square of padding (from other sources) and making your own patch for it will work better.

Pros
  • It's fun
Cons
