I recently purchased similar desktop organizers from competitor Songmics at Revain. They were bamboo, tapped tightly together, beautifully finished. Difficult. But I need something with drawers for another table. They are made of a mysterious wood. Very similar to balsa, but knotty and splintery like pine. Sandpaper must be in short supply in China because mine has never tried it. The back wall of one of the large boxes was cut in half. There are many cracks, chips and splinters, particularly on the liner of the boxes. The color is not the golden shimmer shown in the pictures, but a kind of light brown colored mouse fur. Raw wood as far as I can tell. However, the side panels and top are decent pieces of wood, and the sides and backs of the drawers are much nicer inside and out than the "rustic" drawer fronts. The glued joints seem strong, although the alignment is a bit sub-optimal. Empty, drawers slide out easily. While functionality was my priority, decent looks are worth something. As well as proof of efforts to manufacture and sell a quality product. So I spend the day gluing, sanding and painting. You don't have to do that for the price. The point is to know what you are buying. If you really need crates, then there aren't many options. If drawers are optional, or maybe one will suffice and shelves are fine for everything else, look elsewhere. Like song mix.
