This digital photo frame is a big noticeable difference in quality compared to digital photo frames that were on the market about 5 years ago. Technology has gotten better and resolution has almost reached the point where you can no longer tell it's a digital frame. Still not quite there, but I like that it gives a brighter and easier-to-view photo than a standard framed photo. It's a pity that it's only in landscape mode, but the resolution is really good. It doesn't take a genius to set it up, and the instructions are mostly clear. There are a few imperfections that I haven't been able to fix that may just be product features. First, I couldn't get any of my photo samples to fill the entire frame. I always have spaces at the top and bottom. I believe this is because I didn't match the aspect ratio of the photo to the aspect ratio of the frame. So far I'm a bit reluctant to test the sharing app, but in principle it's a great idea. However, to do so, you need to download the app and connect to the servers operated by the company. It's not that I don't trust them, but I don't trust them yet. The app lets you invite other people to share their photos in your frame, so if they upload a photo to the app, you'll see it in your frame no matter where they are in the world as long as you're using the app. As the description says, this is great for sharing photos with grandparents and friends to keep up with family - this is an especially nice feature when we're all feeling a bit disconnected from family members due to the current pandemic. And it can brighten someone's day. Other options do not require an internet connection via Wi-Fi to upload photos to the frame. I used a small TF card with some sample photos to test the resolution and controls. The touchscreen works great and is intuitive. The menu is in English and understandable. You can also use a USB cable to upload photos from a computer. It comes with a micro USB A to USB connector on the frame, so you'll need an adapter to upload photos from your phone (I haven't tested this feature, but I can confirm that uploading photos to a TF card and then inserting the TF card into the frame works fine). Motion detection is a nice touch if you don't want it on all night and want it to turn on when someone is nearby. It also has a setting that lets you choose how long the display stays on before it goes into sleep mode, but you can turn it off for always on. There's a bit of confusion as it definitely turns off in zoom mode depending on the settable time. If you're not using proximity detection, it doesn't seem like it's possible to turn it off, and it shows up continuously without turning it off - that's exactly how I want it to work. I really like the quality of the frame. but there is no portrait mode. It also seems that the photos require an aspect ratio that matches the screen, which cropping can achieve, but I'm surprised this isn't done on the frame. All of the 2K resolution photos I tried had streaks at the top and bottom because my height was too small compared to the width. That's exactly what I need to find out. Overall the price seems a bit high but these new resolution frames are just coming out and should come down in price. Still, even at the current price of almost $200, it's a good investment if you have older family members who like seeing pictures of grandkids that change based on what they're doing that day. I would give 4.5 stars but I am rounding up to 5 because the picture is very clear.
