Admittedly I was skeptical that this would turn out to be a flimsy fake. I was very pleasantly surprised when it arrived. The leather case had real straps and the compass has a lot of weight and workmanship. Our police department has a new captain whose name is Captain Kidd. Apparently he needed a desktop compass for his new venture. He loves it and I will definitely buy it again if the opportunity arises!
