Works very well without a phone case.
This is For me I like it.My main problem is that my iPhone 11 Pro Max has a case.The phone doesn't fit in the case that securely.My case doesn't come off easily.Also I don't want to remove the case on the phone it's so expensive .Want to keep the case.Only uses it for horizontal shots, not vertical shots.So you have to force your phone to fit in.But we make it work.Backlight and mic attached easily It works as described It's very handy my hold phone more securely.
