Review on Japanese Traditional Portable HEER Porcelain by John Bourgeois

Beautiful ceramic tea set for one person. It came in a flight case, making it very portable for travel. I actually keep it in my desk at work to make loose leaf tea. The set fits easily in my drawer and doesn't take up much space when not in use. The blue is more like the green color of sea foam. The ceramic coating is perfectly smooth on all sides. The workmanship and overall quality is almost perfect. The size of the teapot is similar to many clay teapots I've seen in tea shops while traveling around China and Taiwan a few years ago. In fact, I've spent thousands of dollars on tea sets and quality loose tea. I saw another review complaining about the tea set size being too small. This set is designed to brew loose tea by the cup to avoid brewing tea leaves. If you do it right, you can easily make 3-4 infusions with quality tea leaves. To be clear, this is the normal size of a teapot. Many high-end "purple clay" teapots are this size if you shop at specialty tea shops. I want to wash my huge mug) and I enjoy the real scent of expensive tea leaves I bought on vacation. I don't mind getting a thermos to hold hot water so I don't have to get up every few minutes to make a new cup of tea. The only thing that bothers me is the flower below. The cup protrudes slightly so the cup doesn't sit completely flat. I would deduct a star but for me it doesn't affect use, it's more of an aesthetic issue if you're a perfectionist. Overall I am very happy with this set.
