Great Value Travel Packs

(Photo: Bag filled with sleeping bag, sleeping pad, tent, pot, mug, propane, stove, cutlery, toiletries (all in zips), microfiber towel, first- Aid kit, camping lantern, raincoat, hooded down jacket, travel pillow, 1 change of clothes, 1 liter water filter, food for 2 days (mostly dehydrated) Not fed or "bursting at the seams" an avid day hiker and looking to get back into night hiking, which I haven't done for about 15 years when my daughter was growing up I pulled out my old (once best) gear and realized how much easier everything is now - almost all my gear was outdated and in need of replacement (lighter sleeping bag, tent, dishes, etc.) So since I was starting from scratch again and it was getting more and more expensive, I decided to research everything and buy the BEST BUDGET non-branded gear that I could find. Teton Scout 3400 was the best. Materials, organization, weight, size, price, comfort, etc. I am completely satisfied and trust this bag (important). If you are considering this bag I would suggest the following context. : My base weight (all contents except food/water/consumables) is less than 20 pounds. (Considered "lightweight" but far from "ultralight"). As mentioned above, to do this I had to buy new, smaller and lighter gear - again, as mentioned above, the best inexpensive non-branded gear I could find. So, all of my budget gear, groceries (almost oatmeal, ramen, dried fruit, nuts and bars), light clothing, tent, mat, etc. fit comfortably in my bag for a 2-3 day hike, meaning nothing outside is attached. If I needed to add a large winter sleeping bag (instead of a small one) and/or a bear canister, or if I needed more clothing and provisions for a longer trip, the tent would probably have to be pitched outside - no big deal. They are predominantly a weekend getaway unless you need too much luxury or extras on your trip or if your gear is freshly updated I would highly recommend this bag. If you plan to travel light like me, buying a bag is a great motivator for managing the size and weight of your gear. A few hundred dollars on Revain got me most of my gear upgrades (tent $90 4lb, mat 40 $1lb, bag 60 $2lb, stove/pots/cups $40 1.5lb). Haven't spent the night yet (but I packed and carried a bag) so I'll update when I do, but I'm having no issues at the moment and it's comfortable. not renewable).
