Review on Neewer Photography LED Softbox Lighting by Steven Pankey

Very cheap! And disappointment!

angry. I have used other products from the company and while inexpensive they are MUCH better quality than these lamps. I have two old Neewer softboxes that use lightbulbs and have had them for a number of years now. The only reason I bought these lights is because I recently ripped the softbox on one of my old lights and wanted to upgrade to LED. I bought them on a Prime Day deal for about $70. They now appear as $99.99 off the regular price of $124.99 which is clearly not worth it! They are made entirely of plastic and can easily break. They have the absolute worst softbox design. There is no ring to hold it in the light. Instead, it has flexible metal rods that slot into the plastic of the mount. You have to force it to take shape and it seems like it could easily break the flashlight's plastic body. It works once you've got it set up, but you have to deal with it so much it's almost not worth using at all. If I could I would give them a negative star rating for this design alone. When using the remote control, all common flashing modes are available and you can control the color temperature and brightness. If you try to use the remote and turn off the light, it goes crazy and starts flashing and turning off, but never turns off completely. It's just really cheap and shimmers in brightness and color temperature. You can't even turn it off with the handle on the back. I had to turn off the light completely to turn it off. If you don't use the remote control, the grips work perfectly. The lights also have built-in fans, with a noticeable hum that can be heard in the audio if they're too close. They are plugged in only, no battery for portability. No settings are shown at all. There are only two knobs, one for brightness and one for temperature. The only good thing about these lamps is that they are pretty bright. Since I know nothing about the light quality. Due to poor build I wouldn't trust them to provide true color or temperature accuracy. The flashlights come with a carrying pouch, but the zipper is on the side or the handles are on the side. I don't know isn't it. like I said, doesn't make any sense. So make what you will of it, it's hard to explain. These lights DEFINITELY do NOT work for money! That's the most, $30 max! The only reason I say they cost that much is because they come with a case and coasters that can be used for something else, which is questionable. complete disappointment. I'm not expecting anything professional here, but it doesn't come close to the quality of your other products at all! Very disappointing!
